The Blue Mountains & Grand Canyon Walk {Part 1}

This weekend just gone, Alice & I ventured up to the Blue Mountains for some sightseeing and a big walk. It turned out to be one of my favourite days here in Australia so far. The Blue Mountains are like no mountains, or landscape that I have ever seen before. The vast green woodlands deep in the canyons run for miles and are all you can see except for that blue sky that merges with the landscape. When looking out across the tops of the mountains at that bluey haze,  you can understand why they are called the Blue Mountains.

We began our day by stopping at the famous Three Sisters. We didn’t hang around here long as it was very touristy and busy. So after snapping a few photographs we continued on a little further towards the Grand Canyon Track walk. We had decided to do the Grand Canyon loop which was predicted to take 3-4 hours, plus the extra Braeside loop (additional 2 hours). All in all it took us about 5 hours including a stop for a picnic lunch and plenty of stops to take photographs and enjoy the views. All those family walks growing up chasing after an unnaturally ‘brisk’ paced Father, has rubbed off on us I think!

Here is part 1 of our walk:
